3,000 by 3-20: The Inauguration Challenge
On March 20, 2015, President Linda LeMura, Ph.D., will be inaugurated as the first laywoman to lead a Jesuit College or University in the world, proving once again that Le Moyne College, with its comparatively young age, is not constrained by established conventions and is always on the move forward.
In honor of this historical event, the College is challenging alumni to dig in and raise the number of donors who contribute to Le Moyne. Encourage friends and former classmates to make a gift of any size. This challenge is about participation and the value is not as important as the gift itself.
If Le Moyne College can gain 3,000 alumni donors by March 20, a donor has promised to match the funds raised to support student scholarship. The College is currently at 2,500 donors and needs 500 more in just five weeks.
To those alumni that have never contributed before or have not given in a while, now is the time; the power of the match will leverage your gift for the College and in honor of Dr. Le Mura’s leadership.
A dramatic increase in the number of alumni donors creates excitement and unity. It demonstrates their confidence in Le Moyne’s educational experience, increasing its standing in important national rankings and by extension its reputation. Your participation will be a great show of support for the College’s new president.

Le Moyne College Fund
Every year Le Moyne College strives to keep the cost of a transformative education accessible to the diverse student body.
The cost of a Le Moyne education is about $46,200 per year –including tuition, fees, room, board, and personal expenses such as travel and books. This is a daunting price tag for many families struggling in this challenging economy.
We need the support of alumni and the community to make Le Moyne possible for deserving students.
90% of Le Moyne students receive financial aid and 25% of undergraduates are first-generation college students. Donations to the LMC Fund help to ensure that they are not denied the benefit of a Le Moyne education simply because they cannot afford it.
At Le Moyne, the college journey isn’t just about making the grade. It’s about making connections, pursuing experiences, and developing a toolbox for critical thinking. Le Moyne’s students benefit from a rigorous common core that nurtures inquiry and awareness of transformative ideas. Infused with the principles of the Jesuit tradition, the core prepares students by educating the whole person.
It begins in the classroom. That is where Le Moyne students start to question, encounter, discover and form bonds with faculty members and classmates to last a lifetime. The College has a student-to-faculty ratio of 13:1. That makes a difference. Le Moyne Professors can speak not just to their students’ performance in the classroom, but also to their dreams for the future.
When students put what they have learned in the classroom to work- as they conduct research, study abroad or complete an internship, something deep inside them “clicks.” These experiences out of the classroom aid students in strengthening their skills, gaining confidence in their abilities, and building their professional networks. They are critical to what we do here at Le Moyne.
Donor support keeps class sizes small and provides research and service-learning experiences that shape students into tomorrow’s world leaders.
- You don't have to use cash to make your gift — you can give us appreciated securities instead, and use an asset that costs you less than the tax deduction you'll get for it today.
- You may be holding assets that would benefit the College more than they do you — such as a life insurance policy that you no longer need, a parcel of real estate like a second home or undeveloped land, or a collection of books or artwork that you no longer have room to display.
- You can make a gift that costs you nothing during your lifetime — make us a beneficiary of your will or revocable trust, or a beneficiary of your retirement plan, and leave your cash flow and current financial planning uninterrupted.
- You can make the College a partner in your giving — you can deed us your home but continue to live there, you can sell us property at a charitable discount, and you can make a gift that pays you lifetime income.
