"Hydraulic Fracking: The Role of Science and Environmental Policy" Talk by EPA's David Piantanida

On Thursday, March 13 at 7 p.m. David Piantanida ’88, senior policy analyst at the Environmental Protection Agency, will deliver a lecture titled “Hydraulic Fracturing (Fracking): The Role of Science and Environmental Policy.” The talk will take place in Grewen Auditorium on the Le Moyne campus.

Oil and natural gas are important sources of energy and will continue to play a vital role in our nation’s future. This talk will focus on the EPA’s research mission to conduct leading-edge research and foster the sound use of science and technology to protect and safeguard the natural environment.

A 1988 Le Moyne College graduate, Piantanida believes that as people of faith we have a moral obligation to protect future generations from pollution and other environmental stressors. He has served as a senior policy analyst at the EPA since 1990, and has led efforts in workforce planning, environmental policy analysis and environmental advocacy. He has also been a liaison to diverse groups including trade associations, non-profits, tribes, and state government.

This lecture is part of “The Faith That Does Justice" series sponsored by Le Moyne College's Office of Mission and Identity.
