Academic Advising’s Allison Farrell Wins National Award from Jesuit Student Association

At the March 15 awards dinner for the Jesuit Association for Student Personnel Administrators (JASPA), Allison Farrell, Le Moyne’s director of academic advising and support, received the Ignatian Medal for Outstanding Achievement in Jesuit Student Affairs Work. Held this year in Baltimore, Md., JASPA annually recognizes select student affairs professionals and campus programs from among the 28 Jesuit colleges and universities. This year, a total of five awards were presented at the JASPA conference, selected among 35 nominations nationwide.

Established in 1997, the Ignatian Medal for Outstanding Achievement Award is given annually to an individual who may have successfully resolved particularly difficult problems or issues, achieved recognition as a national expert in a particular area of knowledge, or provided outstanding leadership at the campus or regional level.

“This award is well-deserved recognition for Allison and her dedication to students, her innovative approach to new practices, and her unending commitment to our Jesuit values at Le Moyne,” said Deb Cady Melzer, vice president for student development. “Her work is a reflection of the excellent work that everyone within academic advising demonstrates on a daily basis and is a reason we have achieved so much, including the recent rise in our first-year retention rate.”
