It’s Christmas Eve and Rachel is informed by her husband that he has hired a hitman to kill her - and then things get really strange! This richly inventive and often startling dark comedy is a bittersweet Christmas fable for contemporary America. Wandering in and out of fantasy and surrealism, “Reckless” yanks us through every conceivable absurdist hoop, fracturing narrative, language and characterization on the way to its heartbreaking and ridiculous destination. In his review in the New York Times, Stephen Holden called the play "a surreal comic allegory that suggests Alice in Wonderland fused with Candide into a contemporary antidote to Frank Capra's holiday heartwarmer 'It's a Wonderful Life' . . . 'Reckless' sustains the darkly zany atmosphere of a grown-up fairy tale.”
This Le Moyne College production of “Reckless” will be under the direction of guest artist and Le Moyne alumna Leslie Noble, on loan from the Syracuse University Drama Department. Scenery is designed by student Gloria Sprague and costumes designed by Shirley Blakeley.
Ticket prices are $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens and $5 for students and the Le Moyne community. For additional information and ticket reservations, please call the W. Carroll Coyne Center for the Performing Arts at (315) 445-4200 or visit www.lemoyne.edu/vpa for information. The show will be presented in the intimate Marren Studio Theatre, and seating is extremely limited, so purchasing tickets in advance is highly recommended.
