Le Moyne College Presents Winter Music Festival

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … As the fall semester draws to a close at Le Moyne College, students are preparing to present a series of winter concerts, showcasing their accomplishments during the first term of the 2012-2013 academic year.
On Monday, Dec. 3, at 7:30 p.m., the Chamber Singers, under the direction of Jocelyn Rauch, will perform Benjamin Britten’s “Ceremony of Carols” with harpist Deette Bunn. The Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Travis Newton, will then perform holiday favorites, including Leroy Anderson’s “A Christmas Festival,” selections from the “Nutcracker” ballet, a rousing holiday sing-along and more holiday chestnuts.
Next, on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 7:30 p.m., the College’s Jazz Ensemble and the Young Lions of CNY, under the direction of Joe Colombo, will present an evening of jazz and holiday favorites. The ensemble will perform Vince Guaraldi’s “Christmas Time Is Here,” Cole Porter’s “Anything Goes” and much more!
Finally, the Le Moyne College Jazzuits and Singers will present two evenings of vocal jazz and Broadway hits. On Friday and Saturday, Dec. 7 and 8, at 7:30 p.m. these two vocal ensembles will present standards including “Unforgettable” and “Georgia” alongside selections from Broadway musicals, including “Next to Normal,” “Godspell” and “The Wizard of Oz.” The two ensembles will also be joined by tenor James Kryshak, a graduate of C.W. Baker High School in Baldwinsville whose opera credits include appearances with the Lyric Opera of Chicago and Vienna State Opera.
All performances will be held at the W. Carroll Coyne Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of Le Moyne College. Tickets for all events are $15 for the general public, $10 for seniors, and $5 for all students. Please call (315) 445-4200 for tickets and further information.
