Le Moyne College Announces Expanded Second Year of Summer Arts Institute

Contact: Lynn Kasper (315) 445-4230

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … Le Moyne College’s Department of Visual and Performing Arts and Department of Communication and Film Studies are thrilled to announce the second year of the Le Moyne College Summer Arts Institute. Last year, the new conservatory program expanded on the Gifford Family Theatre’s successful Summer Youth Theatre to offer additional opportunities for youth to delve into the areas of film and music, all on Le Moyne’s beautiful campus. This year, the Institute is expanding once again to include two new one-week camps: a musical theatre intensive and a visual arts workshop.

The 2013 Institute kicks off with a two-week film program (expanded by popular demand from one week last year) from July 1-12. This will be followed by a two-week theatre intensive from July 8-19. From July 22-26, the college will host the two new one-week programs in musical theatre and in visual arts. The summer programs will finish with an amazing opportunity for string players (violin, viola, cello and upright bass) to hone their skills from July 29-August 2. Youth may choose to attend one or multiple camps. An optional extended day is available until 5:30 p.m. for each program.

The Institute is pleased to be partnering once again with the strings program at H.W. Smith School, part of the Syracuse City School District, to offer scholarship opportunities for promising students from that school.

Information and application materials are available by calling (315) 445-4230 or visiting www.lemoyne.edu/summerinstitute.
