Le Moyne will be moving to a new version of Blackboard, beginning in the spring semester 2010!
Over the last six months, a select group of faculty from across the College participated in a pilot test of Blackboard Version 9. The faculty used the new version of the software in one or more of their actual classes in order to determine if we should move to the newer version of the software, or to remain at the current version for an additional semester. After evaluating the new software, participating faculty members voted almost two to one in favor of moving to the new platform.
Faculty participating in the pilot suggested that the biggest challenge in moving to the new system would be the learning curve associated with the new interface. The overall user interface has been redesigned in Blackboard 9 to make it easier to use and to reduce the number of clicks necessary to use the system. The gradebook from version 7 has been completely overhauled, now called the Grade Center, providing new functionality and many new features. Finally, in addition to several new features added to the new version, many of the existing features in Blackboard have had new components added to them.
Given the magnitude of changes involved in moving to the new version, Information Technology strongly encourages all Blackboard users to attend training to become familiar with the software prior to the start of the spring semester. New this semester, training will be available in two different formats, traditional face to face classes, and on-demand online versions of the courses.

Information Technology recommends that you try out your password on the new Blackboard server now to avoid any problems as we get closer to the new semester
