This year’s lecture is titled "Journey to Nonviolence: Building Peaceful Communities Out of Personal Tragedy." The speakers include David Kaczynski, executive director of New Yorkers for Alternatives to the Death Penalty and brother of Theodore "Ted" Kaczynski (also known as the Unabomber), and Janice Grieshaber Geddes '98, whose daughter Jenna was murdered in 1997, executive director of the Jenna Foundation for Nonviolence and co-author of New York State's Sentencing Reform Act of 1998, also known as "Jenna's Law."
Kaczynski and Geddes will describe how they were able to transform their personal tragedies resulting from violence into positive missions for social change - and how their paths ultimately converged in their shared work against violence.
