Pianist Jon Nakamatsu to Perform at Le Moyne College
Van Cliburn Gold Medalist to perform works of Brahms, Chopin and Lisztposted on: 10/21/2011
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … On Thursday, Nov. 10, at 7:30 p.m., world-renowned pianist Jon Nakamatsu will perform on the campus of Le Moyne College in the third of five music concerts sponsored by the College’s music program.
Thanks to a special arrangement with the Cultural Resources Council, Mr. Nakamatsu will be performing the recital on the nine-foot Steinway grand piano formerly owned by the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra. Nakamatsu has performed on the piano during his numerous appearances with the SSO, and Le Moyne College is grateful to the CRC for providing the piano for this special evening.
Performing a program of Brahms, Chopin and Liszt, the Gold Medal Winner of the 1997 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition is no stranger to Syracuse audiences. Having performed multiple times in recital and with the former Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, Nakamatsu “feels at home” in Syracuse.
“It’s very special to be returning to Syracuse,” says Nakamatsu. “I’ve met so many wonderful people here over the years, both musicians and audience members. I’m very much looking forward to catching up with old friends!”
Just a few short weeks ago, Nakamatsu achieved another milestone – he was featured as a clue in the New York Times Crossword Puzzle, which he calls his “greatest achievement.” The clue was “Pianist Nakamatsu” and the answer was “Jon.”
