Karper Awarded Ignatian Medal for Outstanding Achievement at National Conference
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … Barb Karper, assistant vice president for student development and multicultural affairs at Le Moyne College, has been awarded the Ignatian Medal for Outstanding Achievement in Jesuit Student Affairs Work. Karper received the award at the Jesuit Association of Student Personnel Administrators (JASPA) annual meeting in Phoenix, Ariz., which took place March 10 and 11.
Presented annually since 1997, the Ignatian Medal is given at JASPA to an individual who has made significant, specific accomplishments in the profession and has provided outstanding leadership to the campus and region. Karper has spent more than 37 years supporting students from underrepresented groups and recently worked to transform Le Moyne’s orientation program to better reflect the College’s Jesuit values.
“For nearly four decades, Barb has been an integral part of the student experience at Le Moyne, and I’m thrilled that those involved with JASPA have selected Barb for this well-deserved recognition,” said Deb Cady Melzer, vice president for student development. “Barb’s many contributions to the College are a perfect example of the effort and dedication that exemplify all that we do in the spirit of OneLeMoyne.”
