Le Moyne Hosts Forum on Religion and Politics

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … The Sanzone Center for Catholic Studies and Theological Reflection at Le Moyne College and the Woodstock Theological Center at Georgetown University will host a forum, titled “The Intersection of Religion and Politics,” on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 7 p.m. in the Panasci Family Chapel.

The forum will focus on the intersection of religion and politics, especially in relation to the fall 2012 presidential election. Panelists include Tom Reese, S.J., senior research fellow at the Woodstock Theological Center, Georgetown University, and Dr. Leslie Griffin, a leading expert on the subject of constitutional law, especially law and religion.

Tom Reese, S.J., is former editor-in-chief of America magazine. He is the author of “Archbishop: Inside the Power Structure of the American Catholic Church” (Harper & Row), “A Flock of Shepherds: The National Conference of Catholic Bishops” (Sheed & Ward) and “Inside the Vatican: The Politics and Organization of the Catholic Church” (Harvard University Press). Father Reese currently coordinates the religion and public policy program and international visiting fellowship program at Woodstock.

Leslie C. Griffin is the William S. Boyd Professor of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, William S. Boyd School of Law. She holds a doctorate in religious studies from Yale University and a juris doctor degree from Stanford Law School. Griffin has held research fellowships at Harvard and Emory University. She has been a visiting professor at the George Washington University Law School, University of Alabama School of Law and Georgetown University Law Center.
