StartFast Venture Accelerator Teams With the Madden School of Business at Le Moyne

Syracuse, N.Y.-based StartFast, the top startup accelerator in upstate New York – and one of 50 members worldwide of the Global Accelerator Network – has entered into an arrangement with Le Moyne College that creates mutually beneficial opportunities for startup firms seeking funding, as well as students and faculty of the College’s Madden School of Business.

“I’m pleased to announce this agreement and what it will do to not only expand opportunities for new companies and entrepreneurs looking for assistance from venture accelerators, but will also provide a wide range of educational experiences for our students and faculty,” said Jim Joseph ’83, dean of the Madden School of Business. “Venture accelerators like StartFast have a proven track record of identifying, mentoring and developing small firms that are on the cutting edge of an industry, but need help to take their idea to the next level. Our students, working with the Madden School’s outstanding faculty, will be able to gain first-hand experience in this exciting business niche.”

Launched in 2012, StartFast provides selected companies with $25,000 in seed funding, access to nearly 100 world-class mentors, hundreds of thousands of dollars in perks from sponsors (e.g. Microsoft, Amazon Web Services) and a three-month intensive boot camp with StartFast’s managing directors, themselves successful entrepreneurs. Companies apply from all over the world; fewer than 1% who are selected as finalists will compete on April 17 for only five to 10 slots in this year’s accelerator program. During and after the program, StartFast positions these select few companies for additional financial investment.

“This year’s StartFast finalists are the strongest I’ve ever seen,” said Chuck Stormon, one of StartFast’s two managing directors. “Our relationship with the Madden School of Business at Le Moyne benefits these companies through connections, access to talent and practical considerations such as living space for co-founders and interns. We couldn’t be more excited to work with administrators, faculty, staff and students of Le Moyne and the Madden School of Business.” In addition, Le Moyne and StartFast are planning to host events, seminars and workshops which will benefit both startups and students.
