Sanzone Center at Le Moyne College to Host Talk on Catholic-Jewish Relations in the Middle East

<p>SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … The Rev. Drew Christiansen, S.J., will give a public lecture on "Light and Darkness: The Holy Land in Catholic-Jewish Relations,” at Le Moyne College on Thursday, September 20, at 8 p.m. in the Panasci Family Chapel.<br /> <br /> Father Christiansen is editor-in-chief of the national Jesuit weekly magazine America. He received his Ph.D. in religious social ethics from Yale University and his most recent book is “Forgiveness in International Politics: An Alternative Road to Peace,” co-authored with William Bole and Robert T. Hennemeyer. From 1991 to 1998, he headed the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Office of International Justice and Peace, and from 1998-2004 he continued to serve as counselor for international affairs to the USCCB with special responsibility for the Middle East. From 1998 to 2002, at the request of the Vatican, he organized and staffed a coalition of bishops' conferences working in support of the church in the Middle East. <br /> <br /> The lecture is free and open to the public and is sponsored by the Sanzone Center for Catholic Studies and Theological Reflection at Le Moyne.
