Le Moyne College Hosts Annual Founders' Day Gala
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … Le Moyne College hosts its annual Founders’ Day Gala on Friday, Nov. 20. The event, which benefits Le Moyne’s scholarship programs, begins at 6:30 p.m. in the College’s recreation center.
In recognition of their leadership and service, especially in the critical areas of health care and education, the College will present James A. Longo, M.D., F.A.C.C. ’77 and Christine R. Zapf-Longo ’79 with the 2009 Simon Le Moyne Award, the highest honor given by Le Moyne.
James A. Longo, M.D., F.A.C.C., is a cardiologist at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, N.Y. He also serves as the founding medical director of the Physician Assistant Studies Program at Le Moyne, where his duties include teaching, advising students and ensuring the overall quality of the program.
Christine R. Zapf-Longo serves as a technology coordinator and computer teacher at Immaculate Conception School (ICS) in Fayetteville, N.Y. In addition, she spearheads the ICS food drive to benefit a local food pantry. Zapf-Longo is also an active supporter of the music boosters club at Christian Brothers Academy, having served as its president for two years.
