Le Moyne College Presents "Emma's Child" by Kristine Thatcher at the W. Carroll Coyne Center for the Performing Arts

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release)… The Boot and Buskin Theatre Group of Le Moyne College in cooperation with the Le Moyne College Department of Theater Arts will present “Emma’s Child” by Kristine Thatcher on February 19, 20, 25, 26 and 27. All performances will start at 8 p.m. at the W. Carroll Coyne Center for the Performing Arts.

When a married couple, after years of trying to have a child of their own, decide to adopt a newborn baby only to discover the baby has a terminal condition, their lives are thrown into a crisis that threatens to tear their marriage apart. What are a couple’s rights and responsibilities to the child and to each other? How does a hospital staff and administration, bound by regulations and laws, negotiate waters clouded with strong feelings and emotions?

The first play ever commissioned by the internationally acclaimed Oregon Shakespeare Festival, “Emma’s Child” is a riveting story, emphasizing that life and the connections made between each of us is deeply integral to the human experience. Tenderly and insightfully written with a light, comedic touch, it is a play that deeply involves the audience with the title character, a brave little individual, and the adults that are forever changed by sharing his life.

The Le Moyne College production of “Emma’s Child” will be under the direction of Steven Braddock. Scenery and lights will be designed by Karel Blakeley and costumes designed by Meggan Camp.

Ticket prices are $12 for adults, $10 for senior citizens and $4 for students and the Le Moyne community. For additional information and ticket reservations, please call the W. Carroll Coyne Center for the Performing Arts at (315) 445-4523.
