Le Moyne College Presents a Winter Music Festival Featuring College Chamber Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble and Vocal Ensembles

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … Music by the Beatles, Duke Ellington and Queen will be among the offerings presented by Le Moyne College’s instrumental and vocal ensembles in a series of concerts during the first full week of December.

On Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 7:30 p.m., the Le Moyne College Chamber Orchestra (under the direction of Travis Newton) will host “A Tribute to the Beatles,” featuring such well-known hits as “Yesterday” and “Here Comes the Sun” in full orchestral treatments. The concert, held at the W. Carroll Coyne Center for the Performing Arts, will also include an original composition, “Calm Down, Ringo!” featuring four drum sets. The piece was written by Armando Bayolo, who will be on hand to work with students prior to the concert and greet audience members.

On Wednesday, Dec. 8, at 7:30 p.m., Le Moyne’s Jazz Ensemble and the Young Lions of Central New York (under the direction of Joseph Colombo) will present the work of the great Duke Ellington. Held at the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Syracuse, the concert will feature Ellington favorites including “Take the ‘A’ Train” and “Mood Indigo.”

On Friday and Saturday, Dec. 10-11, at 7:30 p.m., the College’s vocal ensembles will present Classic Rock favorites including “Dancing Queen,” “Somebody to Love” and “Come Sail Away” in the W. Carroll Coyne Center for the Performing Arts. Both the Le Moyne College Singers (directed by Jocelyn Rauch) and the Jazzuits (directed by Carol Jacobe) will be on hand for the concert, and the two groups will join forces for an exciting holiday finale!

Tickets for all events are $15 for the general public, $10 for seniors. Please call (315) 445-4523 for tickets and further information.
