Le Moyne College Hosts Screening of Academy Award-Nominated Documentary
“The most frightening movie nominated for an Oscar this year is not in the horror genre—but instead is an educational film about banks.”posted on: 2/24/2011
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … Le Moyne College will host a screening of the Academy Award-nominated documentary “Inside Job,” directed by Charles Ferguson, on Tuesday, March 1, at 4 p.m. in the W. Carroll Coyne Center for the Performing Arts. Following the screening, David Rosenfeld, associate director, New York Regional Office, Securities and Exchange Commission, will provide some thoughts on the film.
A recent review called the film “the most frightening movie nominated for an Oscar this year” and went on to say, “’Inside Job’ offers a terrifying—and infuriating—look at the economic meltdown that hit America starting in 2008. The documentary begins in Iceland, a country that was nearly leveled in 2008 by unregulated runaway banks, then quickly moves to the U.S. That is where things get really ugly. Narrated by Matt Damon, the film examines the Wall Street corruption that triggered our current financial crisis and left millions of middle-class Americans without jobs.”
The screening and talkback are free and open to the public. For more information, call (315) 445-4555.
