Foreign language studies at Le Moyne aim to acquaint students with a language, culture and civilization different from their own. Learning another language is useful for students in political science, international relations, criminology, law, healthcare and education. The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures offers majors in French and Spanish as well as studies in various other languages. As part of their program of study, Spanish and French majors are required to spend a semester abroad. Click here for information about majoring in French, here for Spanish. Foreign language majors or minors who plan to attend graduate school should begin the study of a second foreign language as early as possible.
The department offers a two-year sequence of Arabic, Chinese, German, and Japanese, as well as a three-year sequence Italian and Latin courses for students who require or desire college language credit. Classes are also available in studies of the Classics.
