| This certificate program is designed to provide academic preparation and professional development for individuals who want to work in, or who are already working in, positions of higher education administration and leadership in colleges, universities, community colleges. The course work will provide the foundational knowledge of American higher education, leadership and management, challenges in higher education, and marketing management.
Students participating in this graduate certificate program will work with experienced faculty who have been published widely, have doctoral degrees and have many years of higher education leadership expertise.
Who Should Enroll:
There are a number of people who desire or even require such graduate course opportunities. They fall into numerous categories, including:
People with bachelor’s degrees who are presently employed in the higher education field or who desire more professional higher education leadership expertise.
People who have a bachelor’s or higher degree and seek employment in a higher education organization.
Those who wish to add educational expertise pertaining to higher education leadership.
Those who wish to work with organizations or agencies that provide services to higher education.
Required Courses:
This is a 12-credit hour graduate certificate and is comprised of the following courses:
EDG 671 Introduction and Survey of American Higher Education
EDG 672 Principles of Enrollment Management and Marketing in Higher Education
EDG 673 Critical and Contemporary Issues in Higher Education
EDG 674 Leadership and Management for Higher Education Administration
These courses may be applied toward the Master of Science in Education program in professional education at Le Moyne College.
Course Delivery:
Le Moyne does a unique job of combining campus-based classroom instruction with synchronous and asynchronous delivery to meet the needs of local students wanting a face-to-face interaction and those learners at a distance. Courses are offered in the fall, spring and summer semesters. Traditional lectures, case studies and group and individual projects are part of the learning experience. An executive weekend model also enhances this learning opportunity.
Admission Requirements:
An earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and completed certificate application are required to register for the certificate program and individual courses.
