The OSS (Operational Support Systems) Software Engineer is responsible for daily development efforts for regional applications that support the delivery of production data to the internal customer. Provide customer solutions for application and/or data delivery necessary to operate the business.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide the day-to-day support and development of new and existing web based tools consisting of Solaris/Linux, Apache, PHP, MySQL (LAMP), and associated systems.
Participates in a team of engineers responsible for development and support of numerous Regional OSS applications supporting
Residential and Commercial services for Time Warner Cable.
Participates in the team developing the support infrastructure, including metrics development, process improvement, and the OSS tool enhancement life cycle.
Assists the management with evaluations of the current OSS tools suite and recommendation for enhancements as well as next generation solutions.
The successful candidate will take part in a team for developing and support of all software solutions built in house.
Provide exceptional end user support of all OSS tools for the East Region.
Assist management defining enhancements needed to the existing OSS platform in order to meet current and future business needs.
Participate with cross-functional groups within TWC to define requirements for OSS support improvements.
Design, implement and support all OSS tool enhancement requests for the Regional Operations teams.
Assist management in defining and implementing support metrics and SLA's.
Provide technical leadership and solutions to management.
Provide technical trouble shooting support as needed.
Assist management developing tactical and strategic application support roadmap
Development of a technical support knowledge base
Provide 24x7 on call support as necessary
Development experience with MS SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PHP, HTML, Java Script, Windows, UNIX, Remedy, Perl,Unix Shell programming.
Excellent PC Software skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint as well as experience with reporting tools such as Crystal Reports. Familiarity with Visio.
Web development with PHP and MySQL is required.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills measured by the ability to solve complex technical issues
Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) from a four year-college or university or equivalent experience and education.
Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
Experience preferred with developing custom web applications to support business needs. Also experience preferred with CVS or other version control software and MySQL Cluster and Microsoft Sharepoint.
Previous experience with a cable MSO or ISP is also preferred.
