Dolphins Are Filmmakers

Project Record Paradise is a perfect example of the collaborative environment Le Moyne offers. Michael Streissguth, professor of communication and film studies at Le Moyne, teamed up with students Luke Baker, Scott Pugnetti, Carrie Carpenter and Jay Morgese to produce a comical, yet inspiring documentary about the musical life of record store owner Joe Lee.

Dolphins are Collaborative

Here at Le Moyne, we’re family; students, faculty and staff alike. For this reason, collaborative projects are not uncommon inside and out of the classroom, especially in the Department of Communication and Film Studies. We allow students to learn much more than any textbook might teach and provide the opportunity to create something bigger than simply a pen and paper could hold while at the same time learning from others

Dolphins are Entrepreneurial

Le Moyne College goes beyond the classroom to provide outlets necessary for the education of the whole self. Extracurricular activities give students a chance to acquire and build upon skills for use in a lifetime of leadership and service to others and serve to enrich the intellectual as well as emotional aspects of life.

Dolphins are Intimate

At Le Moyne, you’re more than just a number, you’re part of a family. Our small class sizes promote an intimate learning atmosphere. Le Moyne has an average class size of 22 and a student-to-teacher ratio of 13:1, therefore, professors are able to place names with faces and students can interact with professors on a more personal level.

Dolphins are Innovative

At Le Moyne College, we encourage students to give 100 percent on every project and we know that the best possible equipment is required to do so. Our students have complete access to state-of-the-art technology, including an audio lab, the LCTV broadcast studio and two dedicated computer labs, an 18 station Mac lab and a 12 station video editing lab.

Dolphins are Supportive

The concept of family within the Department of Communication and Film Studies is built principally around the Communications faculty. To the professors at Le Moyne, students are not just another number.

Here at Le Moyne, we’re family; students, faculty and staff alike. For this reason, collaborative projects are not uncommon inside and out of the classroom, especially in the Department of Communication and Film Studies. Whether you’re interested in writing that front-page story, announcing the evening news, creating the next greatest Super Bowl TV spot, hosting your very own radio talk show, writing, directing and/or filming an Academy Award-winning film or preparing press releases for one of the most successful organizations in the area, our program is interdisciplinary and largely hands-on. We allow students to learn much more than any textbook might teach and provide the opportunity to create something bigger than simply a pen and paper could hold while at the same time learning from others.
