DESCRIPTION:Dr. David LaRocca will present the first in a series of talks on themes related to the writing of Stanley Cavell, Walter M. Cabot Professor of Aesthetics and the General Theory of Value, Emeritus, at Harvard University, culminating in Cavell’s visit to Le Moyne in April 2010. \nLaRocca is coordinating producer and consulting editor of The Intellectual Portrait Series documentary film project for Liberty Fund, Inc., for whom he also directs, leads discussions and participates in sponsored educational colloquia.  He earned his doctorate in philosophy from Vanderbilt University and later earned a master’s degree in philosophy and religion from Harvard.  He is the author of “On Emerson” (Wadsworth Philosophers Series) and editor (as David Justin Hodge) of Stanley Cavell's “Emerson's Transcendental Etudes” (Stanford). \nThe lecture is free and open to the public.
