SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … Le Moyne College will hold its 60th commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 16, at 10:30 a.m. in the Onondaga County War Memorial. Actor Tim DeKay, class of 1985, will be the commencement speaker. He will also be awarded the honorary degree of doctor of humane letters at the ceremony.

“I’m thrilled that Tim has accepted our invitation to speak at commencement,” said Le Moyne Fred P. Pestello, Ph.D. “Tim has remained involved with Le Moyne even as his professional career has skyrocketed. I have had the pleasure of getting to know him and find that Tim is an exceptional representative of the Le Moyne College Dolphin family. I appreciate all that he does to benefit the College.”

In addition, two others will receive honorary degrees: Sister Mary Laurence Hanley, O.S.F., class of 1961, will receive the honorary degree of doctor of humane letters; and Robert D. Manfred Jr. will receive the honorary degree of doctor of laws.

Tim DeKay currently stars in “White Collar” on the USA Network as Peter Burke, a no-nonsense federal agent in the F.B.I’s White Collar Crime Unit. The show was recently picked up for a second season. Among his most notable work was playing “Bizarro Jerry” in a 1995 episode of Seinfeld and co-starring in the HBO series “Carnivale” from 2003 to 2005. He holds a master’s degree in fine arts from Rutgers University.

Sister Mary Laurence Hanley, O.S.F., is the director of Blessed Mother Marianne Cope’s cause for sainthood. Sr. Hanley is the author, along with O.A. Bushnell, of the definitive biography of Blessed Marianne Cope, “Pilgrimage and Exile: Mother Marianne of Moloka`i.” Mother Marianne served for many years at a settlement for leprosy patients in Kalaupapa, Molokai.

Robert D. Manfred Jr. serves as executive vice president, labor relations and human resources, for Major League Baseball.
