College Web Site
The primary web presence of the College is www.lemoyne.edu. This site serves many functions for the College, its faculty, staff, administrators and students. First and foremost, it is a marketing and recruiting tool to communicate to potential students, employees, donors and the local community the many benefits of Le Moyne. It is also an information clearinghouse for internal and external audiences. The internal portals (formally referred to as Echo), serve the communication needs of current students and faculty and staff about College events, meetings, documents, policies, processes, forms and other such content.
Role of the Web Advisory Committee
The committee is primarily responsible for maintaining the integrity of the College Web site. The site, as established, is the product of much research and consultation, including the work of two outside vendors who are experts in branding and web presence in the field of higher education.
The committee creates and recommends policies pertaining to the Web, explores new initiatives and strategies, and receives and reviews suggestions for changes and improvements to the Web site. They also analyze and make decisions based on Web traffic and other data. The Web Advisory Committee is composed of a broad representation from all areas of the College and meets monthly.
Role of the Webmaster
This person is responsible for all technological issues and user interface aspects of the Web site. The Webmaster has top-level access to the content management system, Dot NetNuke, with the ability to create and delete pages, move pages, add modules, create user accounts and approve user-editing access. The Webmaster purchases and implements new technologies and modules, maintains database functionality and monitors and reviews traffic and Web activity.
Role of the Web Designer
This person is responsible for maintaining the graphic identity of the site, with consistent branding, messaging, and “look and feel.” The Web Designer works directly with the Content Managers on the presentation of information using graphics, photography, and type treatments. This person will continually review areas of the site to ensure consistent use of the style elements. The Web Designer works directly with the Webmaster in the design and implementation of any specialized Web projects.
Role of Content Managers
Content Managers are the liaisons between individual departments, programs, offices, and the Web Advisory Committee. They are responsible for reviewing and updating the content on any applicable pages. Any changes needed should be brought to the proper Content Manager, listed in the Faculty & Staff portal. The Content Managers should maintain a good working relationship with the Webmaster, Web Designer and the Web Advisory Committee.
