In connection with the Turner-Cezanne exhibit at the Everson Museum, the Syracuse Opera will celebrate Impressionism through the scenery, costumes, and advertising of La Bohème (October 23 and 25), and with art song recitals which will be held in mid-November at times to be announced. The recitals will take place both in the galleries and in the Everson Museum's Hosmer Auditorium. Adriana Zabala’s program, "L'heure exquise, musical impressions from Turner to Cézanne," pairs works from the exhibit with songs by Elgar, Debussy, Ravel, Fauré, and Duparc set to the poetry of Verlaine, Hugo, and Moréas.

In connection with the Turner-Cezanne exhibit, the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra will be offering Pictures at an Exhibition on October 16-17 with David Loebel as conductor, as part of the orchestra’s Beyond the Score® series, produced by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. They will also present “Impressionist Masters” November 6-7 with Daniel Hege conducting.

Big, Bold & Brassy: American Jazz Classics, was performed by the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra at an open rehearsal on Thursday, October 1, at the Athletic Center, with guest conductor Jeff Tyzik and guest artists Byron Stripling and Chris Vadala.

MUSIC JOURNEYS

Music Journeys brings professional musicians and performers to Syracuse from around the country, introduces music to people of all backgrounds by organizing special musical presentations and clinics for elementary schools in underprivileged areas of Syracuse. The program typically concludes with an eclectic performance by the performers at Le Moyne College’s W. Carroll Coyne Center for the Performing Arts.
