Dr. Deborah Cromley received her B.A. in classics from Smith College, was awarded a Fulbright Student Grant to study at Universität zu Köln in Germany, and received her M.A. and Ph.D. in Classical Languages and Literatures from the University of Chicago. Her teaching at Le Moyne includes Latin language and literature, ancient Greek epic and tragedy, Classical mythology, modern adaptations of ancient Greek and Latin literature, and the collision between the incipient Roman empire and Cleopatra’s reign in Alexandria, North Africa. She was awarded the Rev. Msgr. A. Robert Casey Teacher of the Year Award at Le Moyne College in 2015. Her research interests include the modern legacy of Greco-Roman literature and art, gender dynamics and gendered self-fashioning, the ancient Greek and Roman novel, ancient rhetoric, and the relationship between language and identity.
