Mary Zampini has a Ph.D. in Hispanic Linguistics from Georgetown University and is a Professor of Spanish and chair of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures. She also has full certification from the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages as a tester for the Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) in Spanish. At Le Moyne, she teaches a variety of courses in Spanish and linguistics. Her research interests include second language and bilingual speech perception and production, as well as issues of foreign accent and comprehensibility. She is co-editor of Phonology and Second Language Acquisition published by John Benjamins Press in 2008. Dr. Zampini was awarded the Rev. Msgr. A. Robert Casey Teacher of the Year Award at Le Moyne College in 2011.
