Cort Ruddy is a partner at PCPA, a full-service public relations and public affairs firm based in Albany, where he puts a decade and a half of experience in journalism, politics and public relations to work for clients.

Mr. Ruddy began his career covering politics as the deputy managing editor for National Journal’s Hotline in Washington, D.C. He made the jump to politics to become the speechwriter for U.S. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. Upon his return to Central New York, Mr. Ruddy spent five years as the chief of staff and communications director for State Senator David J. Valesky. In that time, he also served communications director and campaign manager for Senator Valesky’s re-election campaigns, and the same role for the successful election and re-election of State Sen. Darrel Aubertine. Prior to joining PCPA, Mr. Ruddy worked as V.P. of Communications and Upstate Director for Red Horse Strategies, where he consulted and director communications effort for scores of campaigns across New York State.

Throughout his career, Mr. Ruddy has worked at the intersection of media and campaign politics: first as a reporter covering politics, then as a communications director, on-the-record spokesperson and consultant for high-profile campaigns.
