Gifford Family Theatre Presents “Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Musical”

The Gifford Family Theatre, a professional theatre for young audiences, is delighted to announce its show for spring 2013: Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Musical by Mo Willems.

Opening Friday, May 24, the new smash hit children’s musical commissioned and first produced by the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Knuffle Bunny is chock full of adventure, song, and gigantic dancing laundry. This story of adventure and finding one’s own heart is sure to delight audiences of all ages.

Based on his beloved Caldecott Honor–winning picture book, six-time Emmy Award winner Mo Willems joins Grammy Award–winning composer Michael Silversher to lovingly celebrate the heart and heartache that can only come from a family visit to the local laundromat. It sounds so simple, just a quick trip to the laundromat in Brooklyn with Daddy, Trixie, and her beloved Knuffle Bunny but, before you know it things go horribly, hilariously wrong.

A three-time Caldecott Honor winner for Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!, Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale, and Knuffle Bunny Too: A Case of Mistaken Identity, author Mo Willems has also won two Geisel Medals for There is a Bird on Your Head! and Are You Ready to Play Outside? His books are perennial New York Times bestsellers. Before he turned to children's books, Mo was a writer and animator on Sesame Street, where he won six Emmy Awards.

Performances are Friday, May 24 at 7 p.m., Saturday, May 25 at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 1 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., Friday, June 7 at 7 p.m., Saturday, June 8 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. (bring your favorite stuffed animal – both shows!), Friday, June 14 at 7 p.m., and Saturday, June 15 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
