Le Moyne College Hosts Lecture on Islam and the African-American Experience

<p>SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … Dr. Richard Brent Turner will give a talk at Le Moyne College on Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 6 p.m. in Grewen Auditorium titled “Islam in the African-American Experience.” The event is part of the College’s observance of Black History Month and is free and open to the public.<br /> <br /> Dr. Richard Brent Turner is an associate professor in the departments of African-American world studies and religious studies at the University of Iowa. He holds master’s and doctoral degrees in religion from Princeton University and a master’s degree in Afro-American studies from Boston University. He has also been an associate at the W.E.B. DuBois Institute for African-American Research at Harvard University. He is the author of “Islam in the African American Experience” (Indiana University Press), as well as numerous articles, book chapters, and book reviews on African-American religion.
