Le Moyne College Hosts Annual Loyola Lecture

<p>SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … Le Moyne College will presents its annual Loyola Lecture on Monday, February 4, at 7:30 p.m. in Grewen Auditorium. This year’s featured speaker will be the Rev. John Cecero, S.J. His talk is titled “From Healing to Wholeness: A Psycho-Spiritual Approach.”<br /> <br /> Fr. Cecero holds a doctorate in psychology from George Washington University. Following a clinical internship at the Boston VA Medical Center, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship in substance abuse treatment in the department of psychiatry at Yale University School of Medicine. Early in his career he became interested in addiction counseling where he found that the 12-step program of Alcoholic Anonymous brought together concepts found in both psychology and spirituality. He is an associate professor of psychology at Fordham University, is the director of the Center for Spirituality and Mental Health at Fordham, and he maintains a part-time clinical practice, treating individuals and couples with outpatient psychotherapy. Cecero has published in the Journal of Clinical Psychology, the International Journal for the Psychology of Religion, Current Psychology, the Journal of Moral Education, the Journal of Consulting &amp; Clinical Psychology and Human development. In 2002 he published “Praying through Lifetraps: A Psycho-Spiritual Approach to Freedom” (Resurrection Press).<br /> <br /> The lecture is free and open to the public. It is co-sponsored by the Sanzone Center for Catholic Studies and Theological Reflection and the Jesuit Community at Le Moyne.
