U.S. Rep. James Walsh to Kick Off Irish Studies Conference at Le Moyne
<p>SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … U.S. Rep. James Walsh will speak at the opening of the 2007 Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference for Irish Studies at Le Moyne College on Friday, Oct. 26, at 9:45 a.m. in Grewen Auditorium. <br />

The theme of the conference is “Associating Ireland.” Keynote speakers include Irish historian Alvin Jackson, co-director of research in the School of History and Classics at the University of Edinburgh, and Kathryn Conrad, associate professor of English at the University of Kansas.<br />
<br />
U.S. Rep. Walsh serves as chairman of the Congressional Ad-Hoc Committee on Ireland and is past chair of the Friends of Ireland, having been first named to that post by the Speaker of the House in 1995.<br />

The conference runs through Saturday at Le Moyne College and concludes with a reception from 4:45 – 5:45 p.m. Saturday at the W. Carroll Coyne Center for the Performing Arts sponsored by the Consulate General of Ireland.
