Le Moyne College to Host Poetry Reading
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release)... Le Moyne College will host a poetry reading with David Llyod and Robert Minhinnick on Thursday, Nov. 13, at 6 p.m. in the Reilley Room, located in Reilly Hall.
Le Moyne professor David Lloyd will read from the poetry anthology he edited titled “Other Land: Contemporary Poems on Wales and the Welsh-American Experience.” Robert Minhinnick will read from his recently published poetry collection, “King Driftwood.” The reading is free and open to the public. David Lloyd teaches for creative writing and English at Le Moyne College. His poetry collections include “The Gospel According to Frank” (2003) and “The Everyday Apocalypse” (2002). He has also published “Boys: Stories and a Novella” (2004), “Writing on the Edge: Interviews with Writers and Editors of Wales” (1996), and “The Urgency of Identity: Contemporary English-language Poetry from Wales” (1994). In 2000, he received the Poetry Society of America’s Robert H. Winner Memorial Award, judged by W. D. Snodgrass. In 2001 he was a Distinguished Scholar Fulbright Award for residence at the University of Wales, Bangor.
Robert Minhinnick has published eight volumes of poetry. He was winner of the UK's Forward Prize for “best individual poem” in 1999, 2003, and shortlisted in 2004. His books of essays, “Watching the Fire Eater” (1993) and “To Babel and Back” (2005), both from Seren, won the Wales Book of the Year award. He is an advisor to the environmental and lifestyle charity, Sustainable Wales.”
