Le Moyne Hosts Talk on Ignatian Spirituality

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … Le Moyne College will host a talk by Joseph Marina, S.J. on Ignatian spirituality on Wed., Jan. 28, at 8 p.m. in the Drescher Community Room, Panasci Family Chapel. His talk is titled “Ignatian Spirituality: Discovering the God Who Lives Within.”

In 1521, a Spanish nobleman named Ignatius of Loyola experienced a conversion while recovering from battle wounds. Le Moyne College traces its roots back to him and to the small band of Jesuits he founded in the 16th century. What does the experience of Ignatius have to do with you? What difference could it make in your life? Is his message still relevant after nearly 500 years? This presentation will explore the answers to those questions through an overview of what millions have to come know as Ignatian spirituality---a pathway for discovering the presence of God in all things, especially oneself.

Joe Marina, S.J. is a Jesuit in formation and serves Le Moyne as associate provost and chair of the education department. He attended St. John’s and Fordham universities and has spent nearly 20 years working as a college administrator. Having joined the Jesuits in 2004, Joe is preparing for his final phase of studies for the priesthood.

The presentation is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Center for Personal Growth and Counseling, student health services, student development office, athletics department and Academic Advisement Center.
