Le Moyne College Presents “Our Town”

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … The Boot and Buskin Theatre Group of
Le Moyne College will present “Our Town” by Thornton Wilder on February 20, 21, 26, 27 and 28, 2009.  Performances start at 8 p.m. at the W. Carroll Coyne Center for the Performing Arts.

"Our Town," is set in a fictional New Hampshire town and follows the lives of two families over more than a decade. Awarded the Pulitzer Prize, “Our Town” became one of the most popularly produced plays of the twentieth century. A classic in American drama, it is often quipped that on almost any given day of the year, somewhere in the world, “Our Town” is in production at regional, community, and college theaters.

“Our Town” explores the traditional American values of religion, community, family and the simple pleasures of life. In his preface to “Three Plays,” Wilder wrote, “ ‘Our Town’ is not offered as a picture of life in a New Hampshire village; or as a speculation about the conditions of life after death. … It is an attempt to find a value above all price for the smallest events in our daily life.”

The Le Moyne College production of  “Our Town” will be under the direction of Professor Michael Barbour. Scenery and lights will be designed by Karel Blakeley and costumes designed by Meggan Camp.

Ticket prices are $12 for adults, $8 for senior citizens and $4 for students and the Le Moyne community. For additional information and ticket reservations, please call the W. Carroll Coyne Center for the Performing Arts at (315) 445-4523.
