Biography

My professional and research interests include the impact of individual and business decisions based on tax policy, and innovative education in accounting and taxation, specifically bridging the gaps that exist between academic programs and professional business entities. I have published over fifty articles in top national journals that include: Issues in Accounting Education, Advances in Accounting Education, Tax Notes, Journal of Taxation, CPA Journal and Tax Adviser.

In addition to publications, I am a senior contributing author of multiple textbooks:

1. "Principles of Accounting," published in 2019 by OpenStax Publishing.
2. Pearson's Federal Individual Taxation Textbook (2023 edition and annually forward).
3. Pearson Federal Taxation: Corporations, Estates and Trusts(2023 edition and annually forward).

I serve on the Editorial Board of Issues in Accounting Education, and as an Associate Editor of The Accounting Educators' Journal. I am also active within the profession and had several leadership roles within the American Accounting Association. These most recent roles include:

  • American Taxation Association- Teaching and Curriculum Chair (2022-2023)
  • Northeastern Region- President (2021-2022)
  • Northeast Region- President Elect (2020)
  • Conference on Teaching and Learning Steering Committee (2020)
  • American Taxation Association- Teaching Conference Committee (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021)
  • American Taxation Association- Regional Programs Chair (2020, 2021)


Multiple other roles within the Association as committee leadership moderator, discussant and session chairs. Details are available in my CV.

Other roles include ad hoc reviewer for several journals, and recognized with an Outstanding Reviewer Award by Emerald Group Publishing Literati Award on Behalf of Journal of International Education in Business. I was awarded a “best paper in track”. Media contributions are available in my CV.

Professionally, I have over a decade of board experience at financial institutions, mostly as board chairman.
