Le Moyne Occupational Therapy Program Receives Highest Level of Reaccreditation

Earlier this month, the Occupational Therapy Department was notified that it has earned reaccreditation of the Master’s of Science Occupational Therapy program for the maximum allowable time frame of 10 years. The program received its initial accreditation in 2017.

The 10-year designation is granted only to those programs that have no areas of noncompliance and have demonstrated exceptional educational quality and was voted on by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE). This was based on the program’s submission of a self-study document in January 2024 followed by an on-site visit with two accreditors in April 2024. The final report of the accreditation council identified that out of 120 distinct standards in the areas of administration and operation of the program, program curriculum and fieldwork, the Le Moyne OT program had no areas of non-compliance and no areas of concern.

“As evidenced by the length of our reaccreditation, ACOTE found the program to be at the highest possible standard,” said Meega Wells, Ph.D., dean of the Purcell School of Professional Studies. “I want to commend all those who were involved with this process.”

Dr. Caitlin Esposito, OT program chair, along with the OT faculty, would like to express their gratitude to all who assisted in the preparation for the review as well as the on-site visit including students, alumni, staff, administrators, employers and fieldwork educators.
