Brian Linnane, S.J. to Serve as Acting Vice President for Mission Integration
To provide consistent leadership within the Office of Mission Integration, Brian Linnane, S.J. will serve as acting vice president for mission integration during the 2025 spring semester. He will fill the role while Patrick Rogers, S.J., spends the semester on sabbatical. The College is also working on a plan for the Office of Campus Ministry, where Father Rogers served as interim director.
Father Linnane joined Le Moyne in 2023 as the Lanigan Chair in Ethics and a professor of religious studies. He has extensive experience in Jesuit higher education, including serving as president of Loyola University Maryland from 2005 to 2021 and as assistant dean and associate professor of religious studies at the College of the Holy Cross. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Boston College, a master’s degree from Georgetown University, a master’s degree and a licentiate in sacred theology from the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley and a master’s degree and a doctorate in religious studies concentrating in religious ethics from Yale University. Father Linnane currently serves on the board of trustees for both Marquette University and Loyola University New Orleans.
One initiative Father Linnane will oversee is the AMGD program, which will provide a transformative experience for 25 students and a formational opportunity for a Le Moyne faculty member or administrator who will serve as the program ambassador. The program begins with the making of Spiritual Exercises on the Boston College campus. Participants then return to their home institution to begin a long-term service commitment followed by a retreat at one of the Jesuit retreat houses in the U.S. The program concludes with participants traveling to Spain for a capstone experience that includes a walking pilgrimage on the Camino Ignaciano.
Le Moyne was one of a few Jesuit institutions invited to participate. All expenses for the program and travel are covered by a $10 million grant from the Lilly Endowment’s National Youth and Young Adult Initiative on Faith and Service. Student participants and the ambassador will be recruited this semester with the program starting in July.
