The staff of the Wellness Center for Health and Counseling recognize that we are all experiencing a wide array of emotions related to both COVID-19 and racial violence occurring within our country. Many around the world are angry and frustrated and want their voices heard. Some of us will choose to actively engage in protests while others of us may be called upon to work at these events (EMS, Security, or Voter Registration) or we may just need to pass through a protest site to get to our place of employment. The risks associated with these activities include contracting coronavirus because of prolonged exposure without proper hygiene and the lack of ability to maintain social distancing as well as the potential for other physical insults that could be dangerous such as exposure to tear gas, violence, rubber bullets, sun exposure, and dehydration. We want to ensure that you and your family remain healthy and safe during this time of unrest and uncertainty. The links below will provide a safety framework and guidance for involvement in these events.
