Start on the Heights & Then Go Global

Global Affairs (GLA) is an interdisciplinary major that will build your knowledge of international politics, economics and culture.

Global Affairs Undergraduate Degrees

As a GLA major, you’ll learn the origins, challenges and ethical problems of our global society through a social justice lens. You can choose to concentrate on general studies or focus on business, crime, cybersecurity or the Middle East and North Africa.

Global Affairs Courses

The GLA program offers many fascinating courses, including Human Rights, Immigration, International Courts, and Gender and Crime. There are also several courses that provide study abroad options.

Model United Nations (UN) and Model European Union (EU)

Model UN and Model EU are 1 credit courses that prepare students to participate in national conferences offering an immersive, simulated experience of the world’s preeminent diplomatic and political international organizations. Prepare for your role by taking a look inside current events, pressing international issues, the basics of international law, and some of the protocol and procedures of diplomacy. It was impressive to see students react to a new environment, embrace it and start to venture outside their comfort zone. By the time they left, the students were truly attached to Tunisia and understood the transformative value of spending a month there learning the language and traveling around.”

Delia Popescu, Ph.D., Global Affairs Director, remarking on a 2024 course “Politics and Culture in Tunisia” taught as an immersion in Tunisia
