As a global affairs major, you’ll study the connections between world governments, cultures and societies. You’ll learn to think critically about politics, economics, labor relations and human rights through the lens of social justice.
With an undergraduate degree in global affairs, you’ll graduate with a deeper understanding of the world and your place in it, ready to use your gifts – and ethics – to promote peace and lead positive change.
Global Affairs (GLA) is an interdisciplinary major that will build your knowledge of international politics, economics and culture.
As a GLA major, you’ll learn the origins, challenges and ethical problems of our global society through a social justice lens. You can choose to concentrate on general studies or focus on business, crime, cybersecurity or the Middle East and North Africa.
The GLA program offers many fascinating courses, including Human Rights, Immigration, International Courts, and Gender and Crime. There are also several courses that provide study abroad options.
Model UN and Model EU are 1 credit courses that prepare students to participate in national conferences offering an immersive, simulated experience of the world’s preeminent diplomatic and political international organizations. Prepare for your role by taking a look inside current events, pressing international issues, the basics of international law, and some of the protocol and procedures of diplomacy. Then, attend an event as a head of state or distinguished diplomat.
As an interdisciplinary program, the GLA faculty come from a wide-range of backgrounds to offer you a diverse and fulfilling classroom experience.
