Why a Software Applications & Systems Development Degree From Le Moyne?

Creating a video for a school project. Ordering takeout from an app on your phone. Editing a photo to post on social media. Behind these everyday activities is the work of software application and systems developers. They are responsible for the vast and complex systems that drive the operations of worldwide governments, public agencies and multimillion dollar corporations.

If you are a creative thinker who loves technology, the software applications and systems development (SASD) program at Le Moyne could be a good fit. You’ll study everything from bits and bytes to software architecture and the cloud. A wide range of electives allows you to personalize the program to your interests and goals. You’ll graduate ready to use your intelligence and skills to innovate, problem-solve and drive business into the future.

Computer Science Meets Business Analysis & Project Planning

The strength of Le Moyne’s SASD program lies in its liberal arts tradition – students receive broad exposure to other disciplines with a solid foundation in developing software applications and systems.

Software Applications & Systems Development Undergraduate Degrees

Le Moyne’s SASD program combines software programming and software design from the computer science (CS) program with business analysis and project planning from the information systems (IS) program. A significant difference between the SASD and CS programs is the mathematics requirements.

Software Applications & Systems Development Minor

You can earn an SASD minor by completing at least four of the approved required courses.

Software Applications & Systems Development Courses

The SASD program builds on a liberal arts core curriculum. You’ll study COBOL, Java and Visual Basics programming, algorithms and program design, object-oriented software design and managing systems projects.

The SASD Le Moyne faculty brings decades of experience teaching and working in the tech industry. From the AT&T Corporation to IT consulting firms to enterprise risk management, IT architecture and project management, as well as working on the design of approximation algorithms and computational game theory, you’ll meet professors who have worked on and in many of the facets of modern-day tech.

SASD Careers & Median Salaries

$126,900 Computer Network Architect

$107,346 Cybersecurity Analyst

By graduation, you'll be ready to innovate, problem-solve and drive any business into the future.

I was working on a project in optics and didn’t really have a background in it, but being able to navigate fields that aren’t your natural inclination helped me. The problem-solving is the same. Critical thinking— you use that in every field; it’s just applied differently.”
