Julia Ebner is a seasoned performer, choreographer and teacher of the performing arts. She has performance credentials across the country including work with the Metropolitan Opera, the Santa Fe Opera, the Florida Grand Opera, Opera North, Virginia Opera, Asheville Lyric Opera, Winter Opera St. Louis, Opera San Antonio, Ash Lawn Opera, St. Petersburg Opera, Bel Cantanti Opera, Green Mountain Opera Festival, Virginia Opera, Syracuse Opera, Opera in the Heights, the Tri-Cities Opera, Amherst Early Music Festival, Oswego Opera and the Charleston Chamber Opera.
Locally, she has debuted the role of Maud Gage in Pushed Aside, with The Society for New Music, performed as Frasquita in Bizet’s Carmen, with Syracuse Opera, and sang as the soprano soloist in Mahler’s Rückert Lieder, Bach’s Magnificat and Handel’s Messiah, with Symphoria. She is a frequent performer with The Civic Morning Music concert series and The Society for New Music. Ms. Ebner runs the musical theatre program for Tiffany’s School of Dance and Performing Arts Center in Skaneateles, New York.
Ms. Ebner received her master’s in music from Binghamton University and her bachelor’s in music from Syracuse University, where she was the recipient of the Moore Opera Award, the Jessie Gaul Vocal Music Scholarship, and the Ernst Bacon Vocalist Award. Other honors have included the Stuart & Jeanne Wilson Scholarship from Tri-Cities Opera and a Richard F. Gold Career Grant from the Shoshanna Foundation. Ms. Ebner was the 2007 winner of the Helen Boatwright Award, a 2017 finalist for Opera Ithaca’s Edward M. Murray Voice Competition, a 2008 finalist for the Franco-American Vocal Awards, and a 2006 and 2009 finalist for the Sara Tucker awards. She also received the Female Young Artist Award in 2009, from Opera North, as well as a 2011 Encouragement Award from the Metropolitan Opera National Council and the 2011 Campbell Wachter Memorial Award from the Santa Fe Opera.
Ms. Ebner has taught applied voice and music theory at Mount Olive College in Mount Olive, North Carolina as well as holding voice studios at Cortland University and Binghamton University.
