Cathy Leogrande, Ph.D.

Cathy Leogrande is a Professor in the Teacher Education Department of the Purcell School of Professional Studies. Her research focus is on using popular culture in K-12 classrooms. Specific areas of study and teaching include students with disabilities, adolescent development, transmedia storytelling, young adult literature, new literacies (including digital texts and other media, comics and graphic novels, gamification and game-based learning, sports literacy and media literacy to provide K-12 teachers the creative skills to teach content to all students in inclusive classrooms. Her teaching and research address issues of race, class, gender, and disability in texts and media.
