Dr. Loveland has published in a number of academic journals, and won the Distinguished Article Award from the American Sociological Association’s section on religion for his paper “Befriending the ‘other’: Patterns of social ties between the religious and non-religious,” coauthored with Nicholas Vargas. He is currently studying and writing about inequality and its effects on community building and political involvement.
