Mary Springston’s experiences includes caring for people with HIV, leadership, management, and teaching. She has been a Physician Assistant since 1993 and went on to practice in underserved communities, which includes Bellevue Hospital in New York City and Onondaga Department of Health in correctional services. All of her clinical experiences were directed at caring for people with HIV who had a variety of comorbidities which included substance use, viral Hepatitis, and mental illnesses that go hand in hand with chronic disease states.
Springston went into full-time academia in 2003 at Le Moyne College where she currently is the Director of Clinical Advancement and Clinical Associate Professor. She has been involved with curricular development that has been guided by her clinical experiences and U.S Department of Health and Human Service grants, Community Foundation of Western NY grants, and a PA foundation grant which provided her the opportunity to go to South Sudan to work with the minister of health on an HIV prevention workshop.
She has been active in Professional societies for her entire PA career and served as the President of the New York State Society of Physician Assistants in 2017.
