Scott Cassidy ’98 to be Inducted into the Greater Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame
At a event on June 12, Scott Cassidy ’98, the current coach of Le Moyne’s baseball team, was introduced along with eight others who will be inducted into the Greater Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame at the organization’s annual induction ceremony and dinner on Monday, Oct. 30 at the Oncenter.
A three-year starter for the Dolphins, Cassidy chalked up 14 wins, pitched 18 complete games, carried a career ERA of 3.44 and struck out 153. At the time of his graduation in 1998, his 18 complete games were the most from the Division-I era and his 29 career starts ranked him second all-time in school history. He was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference’s named Player of the Year in 1998.
His professional career included time with the Toronto Blue Jays, Boston Red Sox and San Diego Padres. He logged 121.2 innings in his Major League Baseball career with 109 strikeouts, an 8-9 record and an ERA of 4.88. In 2001, he represented his country while playing for Team USA during the World Cup of Baseball in Taipei, Taiwan.
Cassidy just finished his 13th year as the head baseball coach at Le Moyne and earned his 300th career coaching win in 2023, only the third coach in program history to do so.
