$7 Million Donation Will Create the William J. Bosch, S.J., Teaching and Learning Center
At the Le Moyne in New York gala held on Wednesday, March 20, the College announced an anonymous $7 million gift that will be used to establish and fund the William J. Bosch, S.J., Teaching and Learning Center. The creation of the center is an important investment in academic excellence, which is a key priority of Le Moyne’s Tomorrow Together strategic plan.
The naming of the center came on an evening where Father Bosch’s many contributions were celebrated by those in attendance at the gala. The former history professor, International House moderator and College archivist passed away in 2023 after a remarkable 57-year career at the College. “Given all we have heard this evening, who better than Father Bosch to serve as the namesake of a center that will provide enduring value to the College he served so diligently and graciously,” said Le Moyne President Linda LeMura. “His lasting impact on generations of Le Moyne students is immeasurable and this center is a fitting tribute to his legacy.”
“The William J. Bosch, S.J. Teaching and Learning Center will be guided by Jesuit values and Ignatian pedagogy and committed to fostering accessibility, inclusion, and reconciliation in the classroom and throughout campus,” said Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Jim Hannan.
A director for the Bosch Center will be hired over the summer. Once operational for the 2024-2025 academic year, center initiatives will include:
· Providing new faculty with extensive mentoring in the Ignatian pedagogical paradigm and its relevance to Le Moyne’s essential characteristics.
· Creating faculty learning communities open to all faculty for collaboration and exploration at the intersection of teaching and research.
· Sponsoring faculty fellows to serve as teacher-scholars dedicated to increased expertise in innovative pedagogy.
· Professional development and continuous learning initiatives to enhance teaching and help faculty gain new perspectives on their chosen dedication to classroom excellence.
“This is an outstanding example of the ongoing generosity of Le Moyne’s alumni, who give back to the College in so many ways, big and small,” said Jim Joseph ’83, Ed.D. ’23, Le Moyne’s vice president for advancement and innovation and dean of the Madden College of Business and Economics. “This anonymous gift is a reflection of the transformative education for which Le Moyne is known, and will ensure that future generations of students are afforded the same opportunities.”
Also honored at the gala was Mike Corasiniti, who serves on Le Moyne’s Board of Trustees; learn more about Mike here.
