Bio
Professor Kim Waale teaches courses in the arts such as Contemporary Developments in the Visual Arts, Art and Wellness, Drawing, Introduction to Visual Design, Sculpture and Experiencing the Arts. Prior to joining the Le Moyne faculty as visiting professor and artist in residence in the Department of Visual and Performing Arts, Waale was professor and Chair of Art and Design at Cazenovia College, Cazenovia, N.Y.
Waale has been an artist in residence in Wales, Spain, Macedonia, Ecuador and throughout the United States. She has received grants, fellowships and residencies from organizations including I-Park in Connecticut, (environmental art residency and exhibition); Sculpture Space in Utica, N.Y. (residency); Light Work in Syracuse, N.Y. (photography grant and exhibition): International Studio and Curatorial Program in New York City (grant, residency and exhibition); Saltonstall Foundation in Ithaca, N.Y. (residency); Harlech Biennial in Wales, United Kingdon (residency and exhibition), A Solaina de PiloƱo in Galicia, Spain (residency and exhibition); and Millay Arts in Austerlitz, N.Y. (residency). She has exhibited in museums, galleries and art venues such as Stone Quarry Hill Art Park, Cazenovia, N.Y.; Plas Glyn-y-Weddw, Llanbedrog, Pwllheli, Wales, United Kingdom; Hallwalls Contemporary Art Center, Buffalo, N.Y; A. I. R. Gallery, New York City; McCormick Freedom Museum, Chicago, Ill.; Housatonic Museum, Bridgeport, Conn.; Memorial Art Gallery, Rochester, N.Y; and the Everson Museum, Syracuse, N.Y.
Waale also presents scholarship, most recently within the field of adaptation studies specifically focusing on adaptations within visual art. In 2003, Waale co-edited a book, A Due Voci: the Photography of Rita Hammond, Julie Grossman, Ann Ryan, Kim Waale, eds., Syracuse University Press (2003).
