Linda Pennisi

Linda earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from Le Moyne College and her Master of Fine Arts in writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts. Her poetry books include The Burning Boat (2022); Suddenly, Fruit (2006); Seamless (2003), and a chapbook, Minuscule Boxes in the Bird’s Bright Throat (2014).
She teaches introductory and advanced writing workshops for Le Moyne’s creative writing program and has introduced workshop topics like Creative Writing and Healing; Writing into the World: Writing with the Elderly; and Creative Writing and Food. Additionally, she has served as program director on two occasions.
Linda was awarded the 2003 Perugia Press Intro Book Prize and was chosen as First Runner-up by poet Philip Levine for the 2003 Levine Poetry Prize. She was awarded a Saltonstall Individual Artists Grant in 2004 and won the 2005 Carolina Wren Press Poetry Series Book Award. Individual poems have appeared or will be appearing in literary journals such as Mc Sweeney’s, Hunger Mountain, The Cortland Review and Faultline, and in the anthologies, Commonwealth: Contemporary Poets on Pennsylvania; The Best of the Bellevue Literary Review; and Keystone: Contemporary Poets on Pennsylvania.
