David Brown, Ed.D.

Dr. Brown started at Le Moyne College in June of 2023. He comes to the Education Department with over 30 years in public education. His most recent work was as the Superintendent of Schools for the DeRuyter Central School District near Syracuse, New York. Previous to that he was the Assistant Superintendent of Personnel and the Curriculum Leader/Director of Fine and Performing Arts for the Ithaca City Schools. In the classroom, he was a Music and Theatre teacher. He just finished working on the Commissioner’s Blue Ribbon Commission for Graduation Measures for the New York State Education. Department. David prides himself with his understanding and forward thinking on the importance of Curriculum and Instruction in all facets of education. He is the President-Elect of the Eastern Division of the National Association for Music Education after being the President of the New York State School Music Association. David is proud to announce he was just named a board member of the NYSED Professional Standards and Practices Board for Teaching (PSPB) which begins in September of 2024. He is additionally a board member of several community organizations including REACH CNY. David lives in Skaneateles with his Wife, Dr. Melissa Brown, and their two children Sophia (15) and Nicholas (13).
